Morgana’s Very Geeky Cocktail Party (With Recipes)

“You know Morg, I love to read I must admit, but I’m picky about what it is that I do.”

Have you read the Hunger Games?

Oh you. You KNOW those are my favorite right now!

I Have JUST the drink for you, Brand!

“The Girl on Fire Cocktail”

1.5 ounces white rum
3 ounces mango juice
1 to 2 teaspoon grenadine
Orange zest strip

Directions: “Fill a highball glass with ice. Add white rum and mango juice, then add grenadine, allowing it to sink to the bottom of glass. Do not stir; garnish with orange zest and cherry. Of course, with this drink in hand, there’s only one way to toast: May the odds be ever in your favor!”

So you’re saying that the whole violent tree in the Wizard of Oz came from Maokai Sr. !?

Yeah that was Pop-Pop’s idea. But then they thought apples would be more kid-friendly.

 Well…DO you like apples?

I’m from a long line of apple trees. Of course I do.

I think I know what to make you now!

“Gods of Death Note Apples”

1 oz. dark rum (preferably Coruba. Myers’s Dark Rum works as well)

1 dash of angostura bitters
4 oz. apple juice
1 apple

Directions: Mix the brandy, rum, and bitters in a separate glass.  Crush a little bit of apple in a rocks glass to add a bit of flavor.  Add the alcohol, apple juice, and ice.  Serve with an apple garnish.

So why do you like Cowboy Bebop so much Gangplank?

 Space Pirates!

1/2 cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 orange
10 whole cloves

Push the cloves into the outside of the orange peel and place peel in the simmering water. Continue simmering for 30 minutes until thick and syrupy. Pour in the wine and heat until steaming but not simmering. Remove the clove-studded orange halves. Serve hot in mugs or glasses.

So whose your favorite Street Fighter character, Shen?

“Chun-Li Ice Tea”

25 ml lychee liqueur
1 splash blue curacao
Elderflower Presse

Directions: Mix the first three ingredients and pour over ice, in a highball glass.  Fill with Elderflower Presse and work them lightning legs.

You really are much more of a gentleman since you put on that skin, Cho. I’ll make you a good drink. I’m sure they don’t have much to drink over there in the void.

1 oz White Creme de Cacao
3/4 oz  Cointreau

“The Kirby”

1 cherry jello shot made with Malibu Coconut Rum
4 oz. pink lemonade

You’re a Demon Jester. Therefore you must know about Demon Souls.

I can make it…but I thought you were trying to drink OUT of your stereotype?

I don’t drink for me, Morgana. I drink, FOR DEMACIA!

“The Frag Grenade (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare cocktail)”

Crème de Menth
Baileys Energy drink
Black vodka

Directions: “Not so much a cocktail as a military exercise, this mission features two shooters colliding in an energy drink combat zone. Start by making a Soap MacTavish – get a shot glass and pour in limoncello, then Crème de menth. Now concoct a “Jagernaut”, which is Jagermeister, then Baileys in another shot glass. Now get a half-pint glass and fix a “Makarov” – pour in your energy drink of choice, plus a shot of Black vodka. Now, wedge your two shooters in the mouth of the half-pint glass. Your first step is to pull the pin on the Soap Mactavish, by carefully yanking the glass free and downing the shooter. This will of course, result in your Jagernaut depth charging into the Makarov – now drink the resulting combination. That’s right, it’s the ultimate shooter-‘em-up.”

If you spill this one, I’ll make you another.

Why…did you have to bring that up? 😦

“Noel (BlazBlue Cocktail)”

5 ml gin
10 ml blue curacao
45 ml yogurt drink

Directions:  Pour the gin and yogurt drink into a glass and stir.  Then, add the blue curacao, which will sink to the bottom.

This one is a little harder Annie…How old did you say you were again?

Have you *hic* seen my *hic* Tibbers?

“Rapture’s Delight (Bioshock 2 Cocktail)”

1 oz lemon juice
1 tsp sugar
1 egg white
1 oz absinthe
1 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 dash Peychaud’s bitters

Directions: Shake all ingredients well and pour.

Stop pounding the ground like that!

“Mudkip (Pokemon Shot)”

1/2 ounce Peach Schnapps (Peachtree)
1 ounce Blue Curacao (Dekuyper)
3/8 ounce Caramel Liquor (Southern Comfort)

Directions:  Pour the Blue Curacao into a double shot glass and then, using a bar spoon, layer the Peach Schnapps and Caramel Liquor on top in that order.

I know you don’t normally drink, but this one may tickle your fancy.

 It does look pretty fancy.

“The Dashing Prince (Katamari Damacy Shot)”

Ingredients: (recipe makes 6 shots)
1 oz Blue Curacao

1/2 oz Grenadine
2 oz Vodka
2 oz Midori Melon Liqueur
2 oz Pineapple juice
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
6 Maraschino cherries with stems

Directions: Mix the Blue Curacao and grenadine and divide into the bottom of 6 shot glasses. Pour vodka, Midori, pineapple juice, and lemon juice in a shaker and shake to combine. Carefully layer the green on top of the purple, and garnish the edge of each shot glass with a maraschino cherry. To take the shot remove the cherry from the edge and down it, and then eat the cherry afterwards. The result is a shot that’s sweet, quirky, and even a little fruity that’s best enjoyed with all your friends, just like Katamari Damacy.

More fun to come! Stay tuned!
